Every day, in Ho Chi Minh City, 9-10% of petrol stations have a situation of intermittent out of stock, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade.
Information was given by Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thi Kim Ngoc at a press conference on the afternoon of October 27.
According to Ms. Ngoc, 3 out of 550 petrol stations in Ho Chi Minh City are temporarily closed, and one store has stopped operating. Along with that, from the beginning of October, the Department recorded that many fuel stores were interrupted due to temporarily running out of petrol or oil.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has 15 petroleum importers and exporters, 60 distributors, and 550 retail stores.

“Every day, about 9-10% of stores temporarily run out of petrol or oil but are still open for normal operations,” she said. In which, some enterprises, especially in suburban districts, are small in scale, so the capacity of tanks/tanks is limited, not doing business in a chain, so when the supply is difficult, they cannot respond promptly.
Regarding the solution, the Department has worked many times with the focal units and proposed the system to have a large scale and abundant capacity to increase operating time. The Department also requires major supply hubs such as Petrolimex, Saigon Petro, and PVOil to ensure supply for distribution to the retail system. Ms. Ngoc said the industry and trade sector coordinated with the Market Management Department, the locality to check and control the supply to ensure gasoline in the city.
Recently, Ho Chi Minh City and many southern provinces and cities have continuously recorded a local shortage of gasoline. Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said that the closure of petrol stations was concentrated in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces – an area that was previously heavily dependent on smuggled gasoline. The Government and Ho Chi Minh City have many solutions, but the situation of petrol and oil shops temporarily suspending sales or selling limited sales continues.
